I chose to be an RVT because as a child I was surrounded by animals. I grew up on a hobby farm and my favourite pet was a jersey cow. I often would dress my cats up in doll clothes and push them around in a stroller. They loved the attention. After graduating high school I worked as a kennel tech at Petland, then ventured on to Red River College to complete the Animal Health Technology program. I graduated in 2001 and worked at Roblin Animal Hospital, then I moved over to Oakbank Animal Hospital in 2002 to their mixed practice and have been here ever since.
There is a lot that interests me about veterinary medicine, such as the investigative work that is required to find out why our furry friends aren’t feeling well. What I love most about my job is seeing patients feel better when they are not well, and meet so many friendly people and pets along the way. A fun fact about myself is that I am a jack of all trades kind of girl. I like to challenge myself to many different projects. From house building to sewing to raising peacocks.
