Safeguard your kitten from harmful diseases with a vaccination plan.
At Oakbank Animal Hospital, we believe the best (and in many cases the most important) medicine is prevention. Due to underdeveloped immune systems, kittens are at the greatest risk of contracting a serious and sometimes deadly disease such as Panleukopenia and Calicivirus. We recommend starting their vaccines at 8 weeks of age to help your kitten build a strong immune system.
Kittens receive their first set of vaccines at 8 weeks of age. If needed, we can also perform a feline leukemia test at this time. Please speak to our veterinarian for more details.
Depending on your kitten’s lifestyle and age, your veterinarian may recommend a series of 2-3 vaccinations. Your veterinarian will take a complete history during your kitten’s first exam and put together the most effective vaccine program for your kitten’s specific needs.
Your kitten may also require the feline leukemia blood test and vaccine. Your cat’s lifestyle will determine which vaccines are appropriate for your cat’s overall health. This ensures they have the best chance of building a strong immune system.
